The daily bar chart covers the period you selected, capped at the most recent 31 days for a longer custom range. The hourly sparkline is different: it always shows today, hour by hour, whatever period is selected.
Because every view resolves its dates the same way, a figure quoted for "this month" on the dashboard means the same month in sales history and in the COGS report.
