ANZ EFTPOS terminal

Ordering an integrated terminal from ANZ Worldline, getting a Linkly Cloud account, and pairing it to the counter.

One thing to get straight before you ring anyone: ANZ merchant terminals are no longer run by the bank you do your business banking with. Card acceptance sits with ANZ Worldline Payment Solutions, a partnership between ANZ and Worldline, and that is who supplies, supports and swaps your terminal. Your ANZ business banker cannot help with a PIN pad.

The good news is that ANZ Worldline points at the same middleware we connect to. In their own words, they can connect your EFTPOS terminal with over 600 POS solutions through their partnership with Linkly.

Which terminal

The current range is Worldline Edge, Worldline Move 5000, ANZ POS Move, Tap On Mobile and ANZ HealthPay. Unlike Westpac or NAB, ANZ Worldline has no separate brand name for the integrated version. Of the Move 5000 they simply say you can use the terminal standalone or integrate it into compatible point-of-sale systems, so which one you end up with is a matter of how the order is written.

That makes the phrasing on the call the important part. Ask for the terminal to be supplied integrated, for use with a Linkly point-of-sale system, connecting over Linkly Cloud rather than to a PC in the shop.

The Linkly Cloud account

Ask ANZ Worldline for a Linkly Cloud production account against your merchant number. They will give you a username and password. Ordering an integrated terminal does not create that account by itself, so ask for both in the same conversation and chase the credentials if only the hardware arrives.

Pairing it

  1. Stand at the terminal with the suite open. Put the PIN pad into pairing mode from its menu — it displays a short pair code and waits.
  2. In Settings → Integrations → Bank EFTPOS via Linkly, add the terminal, choose its store, pick ANZ, and enter the username, password and pair code.
  3. Set a payment method's gateway to the bank terminal in POS → Settings → Payments.

If the terminal offers no pairing option, it has been loaded as a standalone unit. Ring 1800 039 025 and ask for it to be configured for Linkly Cloud integration; it is a change they make at their end, not something to attempt from the terminal's menus.

Then it is the same as any other bank terminal

Pick the method at the counter, the terminal wakes with the amount, the sale posts on approval. Refunds go back through the PIN pad against the original transaction, with the customer and card present. The full walkthrough, including the troubleshooting table, is on Bank EFTPOS terminals.
