Westpac EFTPOS terminal

Ordering an integrated Westpac, St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA terminal and pairing it to the counter.

Westpac offers two different ways to integrate a terminal, and only one of them is ours. EFTPOS Connect — which Westpac markets as "EFTPOS Connect for Linkly POS" — is the Linkly terminal. Presto is Westpac's own integration app, running on EFTPOS Now and EFTPOS Flex hardware and covering 130+ POS systems of its own. Presto is a perfectly good product that we do not talk to.

Ordering it

Westpac's merchant helpdesk is 1800 029 749, staffed 24/7. Ask for EFTPOS Connect by name, say your point-of-sale system is Linkly-accredited, and ask for it to be set up for Linkly Cloud — the cloud arrangement, where the terminal reaches Linkly over the internet, rather than the on-premises one where it is cabled to a PC running Linkly software. We install nothing on your counter machine, so cloud is the one you want.

St.George, Bank of Melbourne and BankSA

All three are Westpac group brands and they sell the same two terminals under their own colours: EFTPOS Now as the standalone, and EFTPOS Connect as the Linkly-integrated one. St.George says it in as many words — EFTPOS Now does not integrate with POS systems today, and if you want EFTPOS that integrates, EFTPOS Connect is the product. Everything on this page applies to all four brands; only the number you ring changes.

Getting the Linkly Cloud credentials

The terminal alone is not enough. Ask the same helpdesk for a Linkly Cloud production account for your merchant number; they issue a username and password, which is what you will type once during pairing and never again. Your merchant agreement, fees and settlement stay exactly where they are.

Pairing EFTPOS Connect

  1. With the terminal on the shop's network, put it into pairing mode from its menu. A short pair code appears on its screen.
  2. In Settings → Integrations → Bank EFTPOS via Linkly, press Add a terminal, name it, choose its store, and pick your brand — Westpac, St George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA.
  3. Enter the username, password and pair code, then press Pair. The terminal confirms on its own screen.
  4. In POS → Settings → Payments, set a payment method's gateway to the bank terminal so the counter has something to press.

At the counter

Nothing to learn beyond one button. Pick the bank-terminal method, the customer taps, the sale posts on approval — and a decline leaves no sale behind. Refunds go back through the terminal against the original transaction, so the cardholder needs to be there. The full mechanics, including what to do when a result is slow to come back, are on Bank EFTPOS terminals.
